There's a number of tunes I totally pass up on the first few listens. Nearly the entire Justice album was like that, the same goes for Simian Mobile Disco's Attack Decay Sustain Relase. Here's another squelchy filtered monster getting high rotation this spring. I'd say it's an early contender for best rave track of 2008.

Part one will get lots of play too. I think my wife will appreciate it's more tranquil moodiness much more than the former track's analogue annihilation.

These are only 128 kbs but the dj quality single is available on beatport now, also with remix by speakerjunk, and Chewy Chocolate Cookies. The official release date is March 24.

He wept. Returning from an epic journey of great danger. Michaelangelo slayed the dragon with his laser love. Trees shook. Earth quaked.
The Requesters - Warriors of Steel (Instrumental) | [direct download]
Once you get past the neying, you'll understand. At first the rain and the horses turned me off of the track entirely but the thunder of this track isn't at the beginning. This track is epic - do not pass this one up.

There's so much to blog about - OMG. I've been a bit slack. Need to work on efficiency, so to start here's a simple playlist from tonight's show. THE SHAKE (facebook group) airs every Friday night from 8-9 on 92.9 KICK FM in Winnipeg. Jason couldn't make it tonight so I got to run the hour. This is how it went:
01. All Teeth and Knuckles - Let's Undress and Listen to CSS
02. Al Azif vs. Adam Tensta (ft. Dr. Alban - My Cool)
03. New Young Pony Club - The Bomb
04. Sebastien Tellier - Sexual Sportswear (SebastiAn remix)

The honeymoon was roses. Well, better than that really.
We got to see Simian Mobile Disco, The Whip, and Turzi - more on that in another post however.
While I was away a pile of stuff came my way. I'll do my best to share it and the tonnes of other material you should kick out. First of which are Manalogue favourites. streetlab nailed out a bit of a slower number last month. The day my Wife and I left for France Mark hit me up with their remix of Hot Chip's, One Pure Thought. There's a subtle contrast in it, with the tranquility of the original all bounced up, the tune could prime dancefloors with a solid bass coat.

Just last week the Brooklyn duo posted another ace remix on their website.

I went over here:
manalogue.com
I'm still sorting out the format for a few areas. It's seriously impossible to sort out the blogroll. I can't find where the links are programmed under the categories. I've looked at every css sheet but I can't figure it out? Holla if you can help.
There are a few posts. Like I said, still suffering from growing pains, but it's on it's way.
Incidentally, the site is based off of a template made by Liquorice Allsorts. werd.
I sat on this long enough already so I might as well throw this at you too.
Kid Color hit me up with a couple of tracks a couple weeks ago. He's producing an ep of Bangers & Cash vs. Daft Punk mashups. I can't wait for the rest of them because these are bang on. get it?
Get them after you update your bookmarks.

Sometimes it's good to slow down. This new remix by CSS of Tilly & the Wall does just that. It's pure and simple pop music adding warmth to this cold February day. Perhaps they're reminding all of us that spring isn't too far away.
Tilly and the Wall - The Freest Man (CSS Remix) | [YSI Link]
The original is pretty good too. You'll see the CSS remix doesn't stray too far from it.

About a month ago (I'm lying it was actually a bit longer) I received a track from a band called Mendetz which was remixed by The Requesters. Unintentionally this tune went by the wayside until last Friday when I was looking for new material for THE SHAKE.
I don't know why the track never stuck out before but I haven't stopped listening to it since. With a thick, gooey bassline and rich casio synth it will lead any dance floor into a sweaty workout.
Mendetz - The Boola (The Requesters Hard to Find Remix) | [YSI Link]
Mendetz are from Barcelona and heat things up with retro-electro and synthed-up rock. They use old-series Casio keyboards to create something they call Casiopunk, with vigorous nods to the early 80s, all Sega bleeps and keyboard riffs.

Also from Barcelona, The Requesters are also from Barcelona and hopefully we all hear more from them.

Just found out that Guns N' Bombs are coming to Winnipeg and this deserves some hype. Not that they won't get it anyway...I'm so effing excited!
Date: March 20 (won't come soon enough)
Locale: Exchange Event Centre
Tix: $10 advance / $15 door
This unforgiving LA pair blast crusty electro and robotdisco onto dance floors. Johnny Love and Filip Turbito start their limited tour with their label, Kitsune Maison, tomorrow. That tour unfortunately won't come to this frigid city in the centre of Canada, nonetheless GNB will rock Winnipeg with a set of bangers crippling those without stamina.

It was about 10 years ago when some friends and I joked that it was time to hang up our raving shoes. I'm happy to say I found a new pair a couple years ago although I feel much older than the kids partying now. At times I feel totally out of place - kinda like the creepy old guys I used to see hanging at the back of the dance floor. Luckily time has been nice to me and I still have the face of a baby. Sort of.
It's this mix of young and old though that I think helps to propel dance music forward. Youthful bands like HEARTSREVOLUTION have bounced around the blogosphere for a minute already with remixes coming from all over the place including one from a hay-day rave producer. Remember ADSR? Now Todd Nickolas releases material under the Civil Discobedience moniker. He's a producer originally from Ottawa, Canada who dropped a rework of C.Y.O.A. (Choose Your Own Adventure), taking the dance punk squelch and focuses it into something more palatable for every dance floor.
HEARTSREVOLUTION - C.Y.O.A. (Civil Discobedience Remix) | [YSI Link]
HEARTSREVOLUTION are the musical entity from the people who created the Heartschallenger Ice Cream Truck and Lifestyle brand, Lo and Ben. Sonically they sound somewhere in between HuggyBear and 'The Virgin Suicides' soundtrack by Air.
Some of you may remember the C.Y.O.A. remix contest IHEARTCOMIX ran before Christmas. The folks at IHEARTCOMIX were kind enough to share the Lauren Flax remix as well. IHEARTCOMIX will be releasing their C.Y.O.A! remix 12" at the beginning of March. The single contains remixes by Brodinski, Lazaro Casanova, CFCF, Lauren Flax and Dan Oh. The artwork is also done by Kate Moross. Additionally, Flosstradamus and LA Riots just finished remixes for two of their tracks that will be part of the IHEARTCOMIX Remix/Scion comp, out in March.
